This is very a very cool application of edge technology, and it came out just in time for CES 2010, the Consumer Electronics Show in Paris. It’s the Parrot AR.Drone, a WiFi-controlled helicopter drone that is operated from an iPhone or iPod Touch. It’s controlled using the iPhone’s accelerometer and touchpad. The drone has two cams, one forward and one aft, that download streaming images directly to the iPhone so the operator flies with a cockpit view of the landscape. Best of all, it comes with augmented reality software that allows two users to do battle with each other, complete with bomb flashes, etc.
How rad is that???
